According to Brandon Remler, Fuji will release a new firmware v1.01 for the Fuji X100 camera on Thursday, April 21st, 2011. Few days ago, FujiFilm UK also hinted that a new firmware will be released this week.
The second news is that FujiFilm USA will start shipping the X100 to dealers in the US next week (it's about time).

I sincerely hope it is all we have been expecting.
If true, I believe this will be the first time when a firmware update will be available before the camera (in the US at least).
I had an idea (which I don’t know is technically feasible) for improving the X100 firmware. There are (as expected) issues with framing parallax when using the optical viewfinder and the brightline frame and focus spot. Why not:
1. apply parallax adjustment to the focus spot (to make it remain in its correct relative position within the frame rather than just the bright line frame
2. “fill” the focus spot with the image off the sensor to enable the photographer to get visual confirmation of what is being focussed. This would be most beneficial if the optical side of the viewfinder were able to be dimmed in that area to reduce “smudging” of the electoric image with the optical image. I read somewhere that there is an LCD mask applied to the optical viewfinder but am unsure if this is actually true.
