Panasonic to replace the GF2 with a “mini-GF” camera (GF3)?

Panasonic Lumix GF2

In addition to the Olympous E-P3 and E-PL3, the Japanese website Digicame-info reported also that Panasonic will be announcing a new "mini-GF" Lumix Micro Four Thirds camera. The new camera (GF3?) is expected to be smaller in size than the current GF2 model and of course will come in multiple colors. In a way, this makes sense since the latest G3 was 25% smaller in size compared to previous models and Panasonic may use the same strategy for the GF product line.

Last month Panasonic UK confirmed that they are working on a new Leica branded 25mm f/1.4 lens for Micro Four Thirds. There is a good chance that the new lens will be announced together with the new GF3 camera.

June should be an interesting month since LeicaSony, Olympus, Samsung and now potentially Panasonic are all preparing to announce new cameras.

Trying to save on plastic? They’re already too small.

    No, Lumix, nooooooooo!

Don’t alienate the serious photographers in favour of the girlie-girls. Do not become the Pentax or the mirrorless market. What next? A pedobear cross-branded camera in diarrhoea brown?

Because it’s impossible for one of the largest electronics companies in the world to make more than one different camera model at a time, this is bad news since Panasonic has signaled their intentions of moving to a one camera lineup.

In other news, having more choice is bad, photographers can only be serious if everything caters to their whims, and what other people do diminishes ones self-worth.

I guess that’s supposed to hit fuji x100… let’s see, let’s see – if I can get that picture quality for less $, that would be great!
