pretty much made what was µ4/3 and all those nexes supposed to be from start but never really were. cudos canon.
not that i would buy it. i am waiting for disposable full frame rangefinder. it was made in old days where you had to stuff it with film, why cannot it be done now after all those miniaturisation efforts?

yes yes i would buy disposable FF rangefinder but it must be made out of platinum so as to resist corrosion

I bought a camera. It’s obsolete now but it used to be really cheap. It has a better VF than an X100, and it has a RF patch. It looks a lot like a X100 black in fact, except it is light weight and pocketable. There is no manual focus issues; the focus is directly mechanically coupled. It has a fixed prime 38/1.8 lens, which is faster than even the X100 and really sharp. It is quieter than a Leica M. It has a FF sensor and no periperal shading or colour shift effects. The camera has an ISO rating of 25-800, so I can really shoot the lens wide open in daylight. Noise is low at 800 ISO and I have shot it at upto 12800 ISO. It can go to 25600 ISO. Even at 25600, there is no chroma noise. There is an amazing selection of film simulations and they are spot on, not a poor reproduction of the look. It’s great for playing kids; there is no shutter lag. Not only do I have full control of exposure, I can exactly balance the flash exposure to the ambient light, or offset it as I wish. The flash exposure is coupled to the distance to subject and is never fooled by subject colour or shade. There is no stupid menu system. All the settings are right there where you want them, on physical controls.

I am of course, talking about a 1970′s rangefinder (Auto S3), but I see no reason at all that what you ask for cannot be made. Well, maybe not the FF sensor, but someday it will be possible. Something like a super low budget X100 with a bluetooth coupling to an camera like an iPhone for a display and recording media.

For now, I am happy to shoot my rangefinders and pay $3 for same day D+S (or home develop and scan for $1 in chemicals).

    PS/ EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS?

You are messing with us, right Admin?

    • Abi

Tell me a PS that has clean and sharp ISO 3200 with dynamic range as big as DSLR…

I just bought one of these in the UK. Extremely impressive little camera to accompany my DSLR. The price is as high as it needs to be to compete in the niche that it’s aimed at.

“The price is as high as it needs to be to compete in the niche that it’s aimed at”?!

DUDE! You effen drank the mutha-effen Canon Kool-Aid. The only reason you even attempt to justify its price is because you yourself shelled out 800 bones for this oversized PoS.

I’m interested to see what canon has to offer for their mirrorless solution. I hope they target the high end mirrorless market (like nex 7 and x pro 1)! :D

Canon aren’t holding back with the rumoured launch of the 5D Mark III. Forget hiring a room or two in a hotel and a white board, they’re building their own stages http://dcclub.pchome.net/thread-6635483-1-1.html
