Some fresh Samsung NX rumors

This is an update to my last post on the new products Samsung is expected to announce at Photokina:

  • Samsung will announces new NX and compact cameras at Photokina.
  • Two or three new lenses will be announced: 12-24mm f/4 VCM (with iFn) and maybe a new 30mm f/2 version II (also with iFn function).
  • The recently announced 16-80mm lens has been cancelled and Samsung is working on a substitute that will probably be announced with the other new NX lenses.
  • Samsung is also working on three new prime lenses similar to the 85mm f/1.4 ED SSA with mechanical AF-coupled ring but they will not be announced this year.
  • Two new compact camera will be announced - the TL500/EX1 replacement will be one of them.
  • Samsung will also show a new camera-phone concept from the new Galaxy Camera line.

    i wish they released the 24mm 1.8….maybe in 2013

Maybe that will get cancelled too, before it is released.

You know, I have tried to like the Samsung line of cameras, but why do I feel like they’re the opposite of Sony? Samsung has good of not great lenses with no bodies to put them on whereas Sony has great bodies with little or no lenses to put on them?

NX20 is IMO a pretty good body of you want that form factor. NX200/NX210 is a great improvement compared to the NX100, but still way behind Sony.

looks like they read comments on PR after all :-D

Samsung should hurry with new lenses,
and “improve slow buffer”, unblock UI during buffer writing to card, improve high ISO jpeg quality, and smaller raw files.

Actually NX need new bright pancake to compete with Olympus 45 f1.8 prime.
And universal zoom similar to long awaited (and now) cancelled 16-80 f3.5-4.5 to compete with Olympus 12-50 or Panasonic 12-35.

The 16-80 was the main reason for my interest. So they just cancelled my interest.

I feel the same. a little good 24-120 equivalent bright lens was almost perfect, but who knows, maybe they are thinking of something even better. Anyway, I think camera makers don´t produce this kind of lenses because if you buyone just don´t have the need of buying anything else.

I tried NX20 in a local shop; it’s really a pain to use it with Raw. Terribly slow operation when compared to even a medium range DLSR camera, like the Nikon 3200, which is much cheaper btw. Besides the EVF is not great, quite slow and not so big.

I think these NX mirrorless systems still have to improve much to be worth the price they are asking.
