New Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM lens coming soon

Sigma is expected to announce a new 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM lens for Canon mount. The new version will add macro capability to the current Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens and will be available on June 25, 2012.

    It will be interesting to see it it’s improved optically from the current versjon. I’m not sure what Sigma’s definition of macro is, but I sucpect the only requirement is that it says “Macro” in the name.

      in sigma marketing BS talk is Macro anything closer then 1:5, so about as macro as any other lens in this zoom range

        Nikon is making an 18-300 VR right now, which is going to kill this Sigma. I think Nikon is finally getting aggressive if the last couple years are any measure. Anyway, the Sigma might be good for other brands.

          Update — Well, if Sigma keeps its pricing CURRENT (not likely), they’ll still have a price advantage — Nikon’s just announced 18-300 is going to cost $999. Sigmas is about $500. STRONG ADVANTAGE: Sigma. Based on price anyway.

      Yeah but a 250mm on APS-c crop and f6.3 you get a FF equivalent DOF like using a… Aaaaaarrrgghhh forget it!!
