What about the mirrorless Canon camera?

    • Harold Ellis

so it is like mark II?

      ahahahahahaaaaaaaa

      • Rob

There are some clear differences, but it is a bit suspicious

New sensor -> Differences show in images
Better AF -> Easier to shoot with

How can it be like a Mk II?

        • Michael

There is almost no difference in the sensor efficiency.

  • Pablo Ricasso

Oh, that will be a great video camera. Let’s hope they update all the pretty plastic (and rubber)

Why did my comment not post? I was just saying what a lovely video camera that will be…

  • Peter

So basicly what you get is… A 5d mk2 with a better sensor and a worse body.

    • Mick

So basically everyone wants a worse sensor and better body…

    • Denis

The same sensor and worse body. The 5D mk III one is hardly a better than sensor from 5d mk II.

      • Pablo Ricasso

I remember reading that if you shoot at 100 the absolute resolution is a wee bit lower with the new sensor. I would think that it would at least have better high ISO performance and maybe a bit better color and dynamic range. I would hope so anyway.

It’s softer because of the AA filter… 5D2 on the other hand had an AA filter that was too weak. Things get pretty ugly when there’s no AA filter and sharp lenses are involved.

    Recently overheard at Canon HQ:

“Nikon Rumor say Nikon come out with low end FX camera. Quick, leak out word that we are doing the same. Make it with a new lens”
    -”What new lens?”
“Snap, I don’t know. It’s to be determined. Quick, I want to stop fence sitters from buying anything right now while they wait for Nikon’s cheap full frame. I want the fence sitters to wait and not buy anything while we think of how to make 20D out of cheaper plastic. Tell the janitor!!! He gets word out pretty quick to the rumor sites!”

    • Janitors_Rock!

What would we do without the Janitors?

Wait! I thought Janitors fixed leaks, not create them??.

      I’m so confused..

      • Pablo Ricasso

Hey, even janitors have to take a leak sometimes.

You guys have got it all wrong. Both Canon and Nikon are chasing Sony ever since they released their “budget” A850….hahahaa

  • Zony

I’ m still trying to figure out why the A850 comment is funny. The A850 was discontinued more than 6 months ago. The FF Sony A99 is rumured to be released st $2500-$2800 USD.
The even more murky FF A88 may come in at $2000. USD. Rumor is that the FF Nikon D600, will be $1500 USD. If there is a downward price chase in FF, Nikon is set to win come September.

This is the start of the end DSLR APS-C size sensor.
Full frame for pros and enthusiasts and 4/3 -1″- apsc mirrorless sensor size for hobbysts.

    • The Fez

APS-C/FF/M4/3 all marketing hype to sell the latest and greatest. Take any iamge taken with a FF, post it beside any shot taken with an APS-C both at 18MP, and size them to 2048 and see if you can tell them apart.

      • lul

seriously? I mean you still don’t know what the differences are between FF and APS-C? Are you for real? You should do some readings…and actually look at some images at say f:1.4, then come back and amend your statement :-)

        • Pablo Ricasso

APS + great lens @ F5.6 = (nearly) full frame + any old lens @ F8. Your mileage may vary…

But get me a 16mm F1.4 for my APS camera! Oops. I guess I would actually need a F1.0 now that I think about it.
And get me a 9mm F2.8. Oops. I guess that would need to be an F2.
Conversely, get me a 600 mm lens for my full frame camera that is as small as my 400 F5.6.

Or maybe you think they don’t sell such lenses because they want me to buy more gear…
