Fujifilm X-E1 announcement tomorrow (including the latest specifications updates)

In addition to the X-Pro1 firmware update and the two new XF lenses, tomorrow Fujifilm will announce also their latest X-E1 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Here are few updates to the previously posted EX-E1 specs:

  • X-E1 will use the same 16MP APS-C “X-Trans CMOS” sensor as the X-Pro1 (max ISO of 25,600)
  • The X-E1 will have a 2,360k dots OLED EVF with a 1:5000 contrast ratio (similar to the Sony a99)
  • The optical part of the EVF will have a double ASPH element and diopter correction
  • The X-E1 body will weight 350 g (compared to 450 g for the X-Pro1)
  • The Mic input of the X-E1 will server also as electronic camera trigger

Seeing these specs (especially the high-quality evf is fantastic), i can live with a one day „delay“ 🙂

Excited about the final price !

+1 on better evf…may be able
      To live without any ovf!….maybe

    • Not really a delay – when the camera is announced, it will still be September 5th somewhere in the world 🙂 This is a common problem because rumors about announcement dates come from different time zones and sometimes the date is off by a day.

The mic input as shutter release trigger is genius. Fujifilm scores points with me every time they say “no” to a proprietary connector.

    X-Trans CMOS – Noooooooooooo!

Especially with camera being so great spec-wise

Why are you opposed to this sensor? It’s pretty damn nice in real life usage.

I’ve tried Raws in several converters & i don’t like results much.

I’m not sure if it will show up in A3 print. but for pixel peeping standard Bayer is so much better.

    so its 6 September ?

  • ozbaz

I am writing this in Australia and it is about 11:20pm on the 5th of Sept. We are approx. on Japanese time. The US runs many hours behind us in time. For example an Apple announcement in California in the morning of a tuesday usually is some time in the early hours of Wednesday our time. Unless the Fuji camera is announced in Hawaii then it is likely to be announced on the 6th of September in most parts of the world.

  • The force is strong with this one

If it doesn’t have the absolutely terrible autofocus lag/speed of the X100 i’ll consider it.

Same here. When is it going to be available in Europe?
