Fujifilm X-E1 sample images, $300 kit savings

First cat picture taken with the Fujifilm X-E1 and XF 35mm f/1.4 lens

Sample images taken with the new Fujifilm X-E1 camera can be found at the new X-E1 dedicated website. Additional samples taken with various XF lenses can be seen on fujifilm.com.

Another interesting development is that if you buy the X-E1 kit (with the 18-55 lens), you will save $300 compared to if you buy camera and the lens separately (see all pre-order options here). Those are exactly the same savings as the recently announced combo offer on the X-Pro1 + lens purchases.

The Questions: The Fuji X-1 Pro killer? The Fuji is cannibalizing itself or not? Fuji X-1Pro worth the difference?

    • fjfjjj

Yes, Fujifilm is cannibalizing itself. The “Fuji Guys” video for the XE-1 does a comparison with the XPro-1, and refers to the older camera like it’s a prototype. “You’ll notice the X-E1 logo on the front, where earlier there was no logo.” Earlier?

Likewise with their first generation of lenses, which are now a generation behind in autofocus performance. This is, somehow, part of their strategy.

You are just all sorts of terrible. Everyone of your contributions to the posts on this site are hilariously out of control….i truly hope you are joking because it would be truly sad for fuji to lose any business because of your angry sad comments.

We all have our opinions but your contributions are so misleading.

You must have had a terrible experience to spend your days consistently contributing nonsense.

          Ad hominem much?

            Incogitable

I don’t think OVF and slower AF is worth the premium. Is there going to be a X-Pro2?

    • Pdf Ninja

According to dpreview, a new firmware version is coming to the X-Pro 1. Both cameras should have very similar AF performance and image quality. The X-E1 is cheaper to manufacture and they’ll sell more, so I’m sure it’s good for them.

X-E1 is for the consumers, X-pro 1 is for the prosumors.
$300 combo means they priced it too high.

  • ghf

Damn! This thing, you’ve gotta be impressed with the image quality. I’m waiting to see what price the Nikon d600 comes in at , but this Fuji, with the optically stabilized kit lens for $1,399 seems like decent value. The video will suck, but if you’re a photographer first and foremost, I think it will be a great camera. I think I like this better than the Nex 6.

Now we only need to see the brick wall photo and also lens cap photo before making decision

I would rather get $300 of a prime lens, rather than the 18-55 kit lens…. Guess I have to buy it with the lens and sell…

    • http://amri-mlee.com amri-mlee

the 18-55 looks nice and quite fast, its so tempting.
Maybe I’ll buy the kit and also get an F mount adapter so I can uses my D primes.

Btw, you have some amazing photos in your website there.

thanks =D you got some nice pics there too, I’m glad some of us here actually shoot photos.

You should see how it performs at first before selling it. It’s better than the average kit zoom.

  • Meh

Some of those pics are kinda me.

    • Jon R

Kind of agree, I’ve seen better pics by actual Fuji X-Pro 1 users.

      • Meh

        True. Also fringing & sharpness.
