Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f/1.8 lens coming before the end of the year

During the 2013 Photokina show Olympus announced the development of a new M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f/1.8 prime lens. Initially the lens was scheduled to go on sale in early 2013, but the latest rumors suggests that it will be available before the end of the year for around €550 ($700). Some sample images taken with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f/1.8  lens can be found here. There could also be a second lens announcement but no further details are available at that point.

  • metal body
  • MSC mechanism
  • snapshot focus
  • Lens design: 9 elements in 6 groups
  • 46mm filter size
  • dimensions/weight: 35.5mm length, 57.5mm diameter, 120g weight
  • to be released in mid-December
  • expected price: around 50,000 yen
  • lens hood not included it will be sold separately
