It seems there are addition of several feats I just hoped they would improve the aperture at the tele end. So unless you are big fan of connectivity and accessories, buying the RX100 when the price goes down is much more interesting deal.

  • Mistral75

I think the most interesting improvement is the tiltable screen.

If the extra 41g is because of the tilt LCD then I wouldn’t call it an expense. All cameras should come with a tilting LCD.

      • El Aura

Including smartphones? My point being that there are device sizes where omitting a tilting LCD to reduce size and weight can be worth it.

Can you show me the smartphones in this discussion?

Also, what does “worth it” mean? Being able to take photos from various angles is a lot more worth it than a camera being 41 grams lighter… jeez… what’s 41 grams!

        “All” ????
Oh that would work well with each and every film camera I own.

          I see you’re having a context disability.

Plus I bet your film cameras are junk.

No thanks…..I don’t want/need a tilting screen when it adds bulk/weight to what is supposed to be a compact camera.

        • http://genotypewritings.blogspot.com/ genotypewriter

Bulk, I can understand but weight?

And speaking about bulk, a lot of Sony cameras have the tilting LCD buried within the body so they don’t add bulk. Take a look at the diagram closely. It doesn’t protrude out when it’s folded in. So the question is, what was the camera that gave you this lasting impression that tilting LCDs add bulk?

          • Catalin

            It’s 2.4mm thicker, so…it does add bulk.

          • http://genotypewritings.blogspot.com/ genotypewriter

And you’re so certain that the extra 2.4mm came exclusively as a result of the flip LCD, why?

A flip up LCD is one of those things that can massively benefit any camera because it lets you compose from many angles and take shots that would otherwise be next to impossible. But all that people cry for are EVFs and knobs because somehow it makes them look like serious photographers. I guess a majority of photographers fall in to one of two categories: 1. Idiots who buy Leicas and 2. those who wish they could afford Leicas.

Are we sure it is Exmor R (BSI) sensor? Rx100 sensor was not BSI. It was just Exmor

Either the rumor is wrong, or it’s a new sensor (unlikely)

      That’s what the specs said.

HDMI INput? Should be output, right?

the ONLY reason why i sold my (excellent) rx100 was the lack of a viewfinder; i thought i would certainly buy one again if they ever made one available, unfortunately it is not the case (yet? one can always hope)… all the other features are redundant for me, sorry.

  • GeofFx

Any guesses on roughly when this might be released and/or when the prices on the original rx100 will drop?

    • Mistral75

      Announced on 27th June.

  • Lee Mullen

24/25p 1080 would be very welcome.

  • WhiteSoul

Do you think which one should I buy? Is G1 x Sony RX100. :(
    I’m undecided.
