Most interested to know whether Olympus will support 4-shots to overcome the limitations of a Bayer CFA limitation. This 4-shot mode will also be easier to implement for handheld shots than the 8-shots high-resolution mode.

I read somewhere Pentax owns a patent on the 4shots stack, that has forced Oly to take a diff route.

      • If that’s correct then “boo”.

Perhaps they could workaround by adding a feature that takes 8 images but keeps the ‘best’ (ie first) 4.

      • Zos Xavius

        Good 🙂

Why would Pentax own the patent? Hasselblad has been offering this feature for years. Besides, there may be too much prior art to patent the notion of combining exposures to increase resolution.
The “50MP high resolution mode” strongly suggests that they are using this technique.

        • Boston C

Hasselblad’s implementation is different from Pentax. The latter is about getting color fidelity by sampling each pixel w three color filters

  • Sakaphoto Graphics

It looks as though the current resolution EVF has been used.

  • MonkeySpanner

I wish they would drop back in resolution a little and come up in noise performance. 12 mp is fine by me as long as it is it has good high iso.

  • Licheus

    The front dial…what a waste.

That’s the nicest looking Olympus yet. Very Fuji like :~)

      Choose between the 16 mpx APS-C format X-E2 for 20 mpx 4/3 format (110-format) PEN-F…
