Congratulations to the winner! I am still happy because my favourite, DxO One, got the silver medal and Canon XC10 the bronze.

    • MdB

Personally those two were the only real clangers. The Lusso is stupid, a tartied up camera with a huge price tag… But that’s a bit besides the point. There have been loads and loads of ‘limited edition’ cameras over the years and that thing is far from the worst of them.

  • MdB

What about the Lenny Kravitz Leica M? Pay loads more for them to be factory ‘beat up’. Or what about the Leica 60 (though I would dearly love to have one) where you can’t even configuration any settings because its got no screen!

Most of the cameras on this year’s list don’t deserve to be there. ‘Worst camera of the year’ for me goes to the not-new-but-claims-to-be models like the Fuji X-A2 and Ricoh GR II. Also the pointless 750D, they should have just made the 760D as one model.

Oh and anything where they just took something and added a ‘selfie’ screen (looking at you again X-A2 as well as GF7, why not just make the GM1 cheaper?).

    • markz

agree with most points (right down to wanting a Leica 60 (one lotto win and its mine;) ), I do however think Blad, the company, needs a few more kicks in the nads while it’s down to teach it the error of its ways.

It makes some nice MF cameras that can be found at “reasonable” prices if you shop around or wait for EoL sales (or can buy them at Academic/Educational prices).
But its Sony rebadged range just brings shame to the whole brand, shame and lose of face.

    • Zos Xavius

The gr series is updated often and only sees a minor refresh every other iteration historically. The current camera is still quite excellent. What’s not to like?

      • MdB

It’s not a problem with a product as such, the GR is excellent. The Lusso here, in many ways is also though.

  • foto2021

Cannot believe the singularly useless Lytro Illum did not make the list.

    • S.Yu

But it got a huge discount, enough to justify it as a toy…

      • foto2021

It’s not even a good toy.

Suitable only for landfill – or recycling where available.

    • it’s an older camera, this was only for the models introduced in 2015

      • foto2021

        Thanks.

  • S.Yu

And to think Casio’s TR-600 isn’t even on the list! This isn’t fair to Hasselblad, really.

    • Spy Black

      That’s because it’s actually a successful camera.

    • markz

probably because its “limited” market (I’m making the assumption that the selection was US/Euro centric most of the countries its marketed in are pretty big camera markets buyer numbers wise)

  • Adam

Subtext: Sony A7R the worst camera of the year.

I’ll give it worst bargain of the year, but worst camera….

    • MdB

      Nonsense.

  • sickheadache

Congratulations Hassledud. For winning this booby prize 3 Years in a Row. Over at Hassleflop you all should be proud for slapping on a piece of wood and “H”‘s on Sony Products. You Done Good Hasselclucks.

    • Chris Wake

All those puns and no HasselBland?

      Show yourself out mate…

      • sickheadache

It took a very special mate..to think of HasselBland…You done good. Special Mate Wake.

      • PhilK

        Hasselboring, Hasselblah, HasselBagOverTheHead..

    • Al Torres

Many camera makers (like cars) share the same components, Nikon, Canon and Sony, do the research it’s nothing new… But the titanium controls and aluminum body and grip are all Hassleblad.

      • sickheadache

Yes…Hassledud provides 5% to a 1000 dollar camera…and as a Special Gift to Al Torres…That 1000 Dollar Camera is now 5 Grand. Al…You have a massive sick headache…Go lay down!

  • Al Torres

If it’s based on the Sony A7…which Wins as one of The Best Cameras of the Year, than tell why this is the worst…makes no sense of people keep saying its a Sony re-banned.

    • MdB

Mostly because it is the same, but 3-4x the price I guess.

      • markz

that and being as ugly as a hat full of arseholes

  • Al Torres

The “worst camera” is a great camera in the hands of a pro.
I feel I can shoot with ANY make and model.

  • Fox sweN Lies

Blad, three years in a row! lol . . no . . ROFL

  • Al Torres

Let’s be clear… These “new” Hassleblads are for those who can afford them and love to show off the Hassleblad name and just like shooting with class and style and its a great conversation piece. I have the HV and Lunar. Ziess Lens and they are superb.

    • Paco Ignacio

      You are so funny

    • markz

does the conversation revolve around “you know you could have bought a Sony and 5 or 6 lenses for that price”

      • Al Torres

It’s better to have one good quilty lens than a few subpar lenses. I also have a Sony A7 and NEX6. The quilty in SONY is amazing…that is why photographers are switching from Nikon and Canon.

        • markz

          hahaha oh wow!
for the price difference they wouldn’t be “sub par” lenses.
At full retail price there is a _$7000USD_ difference between a a Sony A7r and a Hasselblad Lusso with the same 28-70 lens, for that _$7000_ difference you could buy 3 Batis or Loxias lenses to add to that and a 70-200 f/4.
an yeh the blad is being discounted but then again so is the sony A7r, what with it being you know, an old model and all

          • Al Torres

If money is the only issue than by all means by what you can afford… I love the feel and look of my HV and Lunar.

And I seriously doubt that anyone bashing these cameras even own or shot with one.
            Haters gonna hate!

          • markz

my work place owns both an A7r and A7s as part of its media laon inventory that I admin so very much familiar with not just one but two of them

          • Al Torres

I’m talking about the Hassleblad HV and Lunar…. Way different in weight and feel than the Sony.

  • Well, I mean, honestly, this award was created for Hasselblad, wasn’t it? The competition criteria are stacked in their favor, which is not fair, but other companies will catch on and catch up. Who will be the worthy successor?

  • zensu

For those of us who grew up in the 60’s this, and the last 2 years, it’s sad to see so many giants fall so far.
