Yongnuo YN 85mm f/1.8 lens officially announced

The new Yongnuo YN 85mm f/1.8 full frame lens for DSLR cameras I already reported about is now officially announced. The lens manual can be downloaded here. Check pricing and availability at Amazon and B&H (it seems that only the Canon version is currently available, the Nikon mount will probably be released later). Yongnuo is currently giving away three 85mm f/1.8 lenses to testers for free.

    I guess you’ll see it at CP+.

‘Only the Canon version is available’.
This is basically a carbon-copy clone of the real Canon version.

    • Yes, all of their lenses are Canon copies, but they do sell them with a Nikon mount as well.

i wish they could make it in K-mount

I’m surprised more third-party lens makers don’t support Pentax, being as Pentax is lens starved of modern lens options. They could be filing in so many gaps, both AF and manual. They could actually sell a lot of their wares.

Pentax seems to have a lot of lenses to launch this year, according to the roadmap. They have a great opportunity at filing the blanks and make money

          > Pentax seems to have a lot of lenses to launch this year, according to the roadmap.

          …or later.

    • Wish they’d make em for Sony, too. I got a flash and wireless trigger from them and was very impressed by the quality and reliability for the price point.

I still can’t believe that they are aloud to make clones like that without being sued….

    • Zos Xavius

      The patents expired.

      • Actually they’ve also copied the Canon 2x III Extender (even naming it a “2x III Extender”, despite this being their first and only version!), so there might be some other factor at work. Them being daft beyond measure, probably.

I can’t they are allowed to do it out loud either…
