Two Sony lenses are still missing…

Maybe they will be released with the rumored Sony a500 and a550 DSLRs.

At the PMA 2009 show Sony showed 6 different prototype lenses: a unknown super-telephoto lens, DT 50mm F1.8, DT 30mm F2.8 Macro, DT 18-55mm F3.5-5.6DT 55-200mm F4-5.6 and a 28-75mm F2.8. As of today all of them are released except the super-telephoto and the 28-75mm F2.8 zoom lenses. The question is - will there be another DLSR (high end) released with those lenses?

    I don’t get why Sony would put out a 28-75 f/2.8 (G I assume?)

Won’t that cannibalize sales of the 24-70 Zeiss?

I guess they may want to become more independant, but I feel like most people will just gravitate towards the Zeiss due to the brand name, unless the 28-75 is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

    Also . . . 24-70 is way more useful on a sub-full frame body than 28-75 is.
    36-105 vs. 42-112.5

112.5 isn’t much more telephoto than 105 is, but 36 is WAY wider than 42 is.
One more point . . . there’s already an old Minolta 28-75. I hope this isn’t just a rebadging of that lens, because in terms of sharpness that lens is CRAP compared to the Zeiss 24-70

If the new 28-75mm is priced similar to the old Minolta one then that would give Alpha users a nice, inexpensive option for a standard zoom.

The 28-75 f/2.8 is geared towards the Alpha 900 Full frame for news photographers and photojournalists. The only camera that SONY offers that is accepted by Getty Images is the SONY Alpha 900. For many photojournalists shooting full frame a good shoot and run lens is a 28-75 zoom.

    How bout that super tele. I say it looks like a f/2.8 400mm or a f/4 500mm.

Curious, but why was this posted? These lenses were sort of shown but never released yet. There are many other Sony lenses that were shown in a prototype form but not released. Did you get a specific rumor about a projected release date for these two lenses?

No, I do not have any addition info – I am just linking this to the a500 and a550 leaks – maybe Sony will release those lenses with the new bodies.
