     no it isn’t, Nikon already said that it’s not the same sensor, heck the image comparison done already proves that. It might be manufactured by Sony but not essentially the same.

         I think it’s fair to say it’s the same “engine block” as the D3X. It just doesn’t have all the $7000 dollar “tweaks”

           Alpha 850 is a splendid camera, at that price point you might only get a D300s which sucks in comparison!
