ZacK :”WHO BUYS SAMSUNG FOR PHOTOGRAPHY ?”
Apparently many thousands of people every year buy Samsung cameras to take photographs instead of standinig around posing with an expensive Nikon and it’s bright yellow strap.

ZacK “SAMSUNG IS HORRIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO PHOTOS”
You paint with a wide brush.Based on what type of photography?

Prior to the intro of the D3, Nikon was not so hot when it came to taking clean pictures at high ISO – no where near what you got from even the cheapest Canon Rebel.

So you think your 4×6 cat photos made with your Nikon D40 will look way better than someone elses 4×6 cat photos made with an equivalent Samsung DSLR? Not talking about Fult Frame since Samsung has not released their FF – yert? For a FF comparison, do you think your 4×6 cat photos taken with an expensive Nikon D3X poser camera will be any better than 4×6 cat photos taken with a Sony A900, which cost approx one third that of the D3X and uses more or less the same sensor ( using equivalent mm lens )?.

ZacK ” NIKON ALL THE WAY ! I”
Is that supposed to make me want to rush out and buy a Nikon?

ZacK :”GUESS SAMSUNG IS FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN’T AFFORD REALLY GOOD CAMERAS”
Samsung manufactures its own Point & Shoot camera – Nikon does not (I believe Cosina & their Hoya devision are the 3rd party fabricators). Buy a Samsung P&S and you get a lens made by Samsung. Buy a Nikon P&S and it could have a Hoya lens. Buy some of the Nikon DSLR lenses and might get a rebranded Tamron. Buy a Samsung branded DSLR lens and you get a lens made by Samsung and likely designed by both Pentax and Samsung. Buy a Nikon DSLR and you likely get a sensor made by Sony. Nikon cant afford to build their own sensor fab. Buy a Samsung and you get a sensor built by Samsung and desinged by Samsung and Pentax. Prior to Nikon D3, a Samsung or Pentax DSLR could take pictures of equal quality to Nikon Dslr equipped with a Sony built sensor. A P&S Samsung is no worse then a Cosina built Nikon P&S. A Samsung DSLR with a cropped Samsung sensor is no worse than a Nikon DSLR with a Sony cropped sensor. Sony’s Full Frame sensor is another matter at this time – especially when the Sony A950 sensor comes out. but then it’s really a “Sony” sensor and not a “Nikon” sensor.

Try this on for size to see if it fits: “Nikon is for posers “WHO CANT AFFORD REALLY GOOD CAMERAS” like the Leica S2!”

BAHAHA ! I laughed at the part where you said something about a Nikon D40 … Wow that is hilarious ! I guess you just assume I had one while I have a Nikon D700, oh and let me tell you something else. Until I see ” SAMSUNG ” on the top used and uploaded photos by on Flickr, then well speak, until then, you go shop for a Kodak.

Gimme a break. The D40 had great image quality! As good or cleaner higher ISO than the top of the line at that time D2 series.

Oh wow, you have a Sony D700 – oh sorry a Nikon D700.

The Sony A900, Nikon D3 and Nikopn D3X have 100% viewfinders. I guess you could NOT AFFORD either of those REALLY GOOD CAMERAS (though not as good as the Leica S2 – but CHEAPER) and accepted the inferior viewfinder on the lesser D700, as long as it included a bright yellow neck strap so everyone could see that you have a “Nikon D700″ – Flickr’s best….FIGURES….

Yes the top used and uploaded photos on Flickr is the standard by which all cameras should be judged. How is the D700′s standing in that regard? Are there more D40 pics, than D700 pics? Maybe you should have gotten a Nikon D40 instead – it too has an inferior less than 100% viewfinder.

What, you also don’t like Kodak? How many photos have Kodak users posted on Flickr? More than D700 users? Maybe you should have gotten a Kodak?

Nikon is rumored to be the favored brand of muggers. Why? Apparently Nikon posers are easier to spot standing around letting everyone see that they have a “Nikon” camera, thanks to Nikon’s bright yellow neck strap. The cameras are usually in mint condition with precious few acctuations, but always with a lot of brassing around the neck strap mounts. Muggers also note that Nikon posers are rarely with other photogs especially other photogs “not” using a Nikon branded camera and as such are easier pickings (safety in numbers?)..

I guess photographers using other camera brands become unfriendly when “informed” by Nikon posers how crappy their preferred camera brand is, so they steer cleaer of them.

Ok, you are comparing apples to oranges. You are mostly saying stuff about the Nikons yellow neck strap while some Canons have red.. BIG DEAL… Also, why would I have gotten a D40..? It is too small, low megapixels, less features… and PLENTY more flaws …. Oh and the little ” Kodak ” statements.. well … until 2020, maybe kodak will get with the generation of DSLR’s and BETTER, NOT CRAPPY cameras, then I will think about it, until then, peace and live life, Oh, and still that SONY.. HA my camera still cost more than the A900 or A850 even without the lens ! Good gosh…..

My enthusiasm for this has now diminished. I had hoped for an in-body stabilizer to stabilize my Zeiss lenses through an adapter, but it looks like Oly is the only one doing this.

Hi ZacK: I’ll quote Thom Hogan::
“My hypothesis is that you buy cameras to make pictures, not to buy more cameras. But I may be wrong. If you buy cameras to make pictures, it’s the picture that’s important, not the camera.”

“If you can’t take good photos that print to the maximum size of the desktop inkjet printers (13×19″), then it isn’t the camera. That quote applies to all current DSLRs I see available, whether Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, or Pentax.” or Samsung.

You have a fine camera in the D700 and I hope you learn how to get the most out of that tool, so as to create many wonderful photographs. Trashing another brand of camera does not make your Nikon a better tool. Remember it’s just a tool and not a religion. The same applies to all Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Samsung, Pansonic, Leica, Kodak etc..etc..etc..etc users. See ya.
