This rumor is brought to you by Fotosidan (Google translation) - the translation as aways is sketchy, but it seems that Ricoh has sent out event invitations for this Tuesday, November 10th:

"... a unique new compact camera in the premium class. Ricoh is a long time in development the forefront of compact cameras with very high quality. This new camera is no exception, it has both functions and properties that make it unique in the market. "

The rumor is that two lenses will be launched with Ricoh’s mirrorless, interchangeable lenses camera. Here are the details:

  • APS-C sensor
  • Interchangeable optics with proprietary bayonet mount
  • Mirror Loose house with live-view
  • Not so much larger than the GR-D cameras
  • The same operation / control that the GR-D
  • Electronic viewfinder accessory shoe for optional

I think that translation should read: “It’s been a long time since Ricoh has been in the forefront of compact cameras of any quantity.” or “Ricoh has been trying for a long time to be in the forefront of quality compact cameras.”

Okay. Mean. I know. I had to.

No viewfinder, no sale. Only Panasonic seems to get it.

it is not clear exactly what is meant by:
“Electronic viewfinder accessory shoe for optional”
    does this mean:
    1) an optional accessory EVF that is hotshoe mountable, or
    2) an additional hotshoe mount devoted for the EVF, so that it’s possible to use the flash and EVF simultaneously, (unlike EP2) .
number 1 is more conventional and probable but the wording (especially “accessory shoe”) could also be interpreted to mean #2
