Maybe a silly question, but aren’t all 921K 3″ screens 271 ppi?
this is going to be on there new camera huh?
your avatar seem to be HDR, Wout!? i like it.
all 921K 3″ LCD of 4:3 aspect have 640pxl on 60.9 mm (width) which means ~10.5 dots/mm converting to inches => ~267dpi.
the next step after backlighting, is to make it backshakin, the LCD would be connected to sensor and shake simultaneously with it for stabilization.
Thanks, for the equation, I already thought so, making a 3″ screen with 921K dots, the size of the dots are practically the same on all screens, otherwise the screen would have to shrink or the amount of pixels to increase/decrease to get another resolution.
And how does my avatar end up HDR to you?
Hey Wout, your avatar has halo’s often seen in HDR’s and you got a relatively nice one of these automatically generated type, look at mine.. anyway i think the deal with this new LCD is the better visibility and they just mentioned the resolution to say that it is not less than the best used in digital cameras, although this may change any time now with the 920 been used in not-so-high-end cameras. I wish I could plug (or wifi) a handheld 7″ screen of 800×600 or 1024×768 for free preview (away from the camera).
The Canon 7D, and upcoming 1D MK IV have the LCD with airless gap. I thought they were sony LCD’s, so maybe sony is now selling it to other manufacturers.
This is a improvement, if it is like the Canon LCD, it now has a glass surface which does not scratch nearly as easily as the plastic ones, and, of course, it is better in bright light but still not really usuable.
