polaroid logo Polaroid plans for 2010

The latest Polaroid news suggested a return of the cult camera to the market in 2010. We now have more details about the plans of the new Polaroid owners for 2010:

  • There will be a film based One Step camera that will be relaunched in mid-2010.
  • The Impossible Project will be in charge of producing Polaroid-branded color and black-and-white instant films.
  • The third product in 2010 will be the Polaroid Two which will be the “digital version of the traditional camera that produces instant digital photos”. The new model is expected to produce 4×3-inch instant digital photos (the current model produces 2×3-inch pictures).

Well, at least we will be able to make a believable remake of “Memento”…

I think this will fly…. Digital capture with an ability to make small exposure/white balance/fish eye effect etc and then print right from thr camera. Makes sense to me in the digital age. If they are cheeky, they could copy Canon’s dedicated print button. That would be funny. A dedicated print button that actually has some usefulness!

Too bad 55 & 665 are gone forever. A black & white integral film will be interesting.

Also, there’s no shortage of Polaroid cameras in the world. There must be a billion One Step-like cheap cameras in the world, that have had a maximum of ten exposures put though them. The shortage is in film. If they’d come out with a new SX-70 or SLR680, that would actually mean something.
