The previous report about the Sony a700 being discontinued came back in August. Now, Sony Europe (Netherlands) confirms that directly in an email - the a700 is replaced by the "Alpha 8 series". Do they mean the a850? Not sure why they would replace a 1.5x crop sensor DSLR with a full frame DSLR. Maybe they mean the rumored a800?

Dear mr. V.,
Regarding your request, I have investigated the matter.
It is true that the DSLR-A700 is no longer available.
The replacement of the DSLR-A700 will after all be the Alpha 8-series.
I hope to have informed you sufficiently,
Kind regards,
Sony Support

good
at least they have confirmed that there will be something. I don’t think that it’s about A850 as 1) it’s too expensive and 2) everyone in Sony knows that it’s younger brother of A900, not successor of A700.
Wow, the person that sent that letter from Sony is not a very good one at Dutch
“Na aanleiding” Naar aanleiding
“voor uw” voor u
“niet meer beschikbaar zijn” niet meer beschikbaar is
“tog” toch
And now my translation as a native Dutch

thanks – I updated the translation
Bedankt voor de vertaling, wout.
I lived in holland for years but never learned the language as i should have there, (spreek geen goed nederlands), i would easily recognise something like “tog” as incorrect Dutch though.
That’s something already
you should work for Sony Holland
