Yes, Sony a700 is discontinued but what is the replacement?

sony a850 Yes, Sony a700 is discontinued but what is the replacement?The previous report about the Sony a700 being discontinued came back in August. Now, Sony Europe (Netherlands) confirms that directly in an email - the a700 is replaced by the "Alpha 8 series". Do they mean the a850? Not sure why they would replace a 1.5x crop sensor DSLR with a full frame DSLR. Maybe they mean the rumored a800?

    good :) at least they have confirmed that there will be something. I don’t think that it’s about A850 as 1) it’s too expensive and 2) everyone in Sony knows that it’s younger brother of A900, not successor of A700.

    Bedankt voor de vertaling, wout.
    I lived in holland for years but never learned the language as i should have there, (spreek geen goed nederlands), i would easily recognise something like “tog” as incorrect Dutch though.
