Update: a reader just reminded me about this post I wrote last year - almost every year Panasonic releases new products around July 20th.
Quesabesde visited Panasonic factories in Japan and there are two interesting bits of information in terms of upcoming products:
- For some reason Quesabesde is "convinced" that there will be a successor of the Panasonic LX3 and the announcement could be as early as next month (July). The new model is expected to have an improved RAW capabilities and better zoom (the current LX3 model has 5.1–12.8mm zoom, which equivalents to 24-60mm in full frame).
- Some of the upcoming lenses for m4/3 are 14mm f/2.5 pancake and 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 O.I.S. (both expected in autumn, 2010). This is not really news, since Panasonic announced their m4/3 lens roadmap for 2010 back in September of 2009.

Panasonic always launch new P&S models in mid/late July, so if they have a LX3-sucessor then July is when you’d expect it to come out.
true, I wrote about this last year:

instead of new model we need some rangefinder with optical viewfinder, not interested to compose on LCD
You can always buy an optical viewfinder for the hot shoe.
I’ve been holding off on buying a camera till this comes out.
and missing loads of photos while you have been waiting!
