Rumored Pentax K-5 and K-r specs

Those are the rumored Pentax K-5 and K-r specs from the Pentax forum:

Pentax K-5:

  • 16 million pixels (SONY new sensor)
  • ISO 25600
  • 7 frames per sec
  • Price: ¥ 139,000 ($1625, but it could be $1400 in the US)
  • Announcement on September 20th, 2010
  • Available in mid-October

Pentax K-r:

  • 12 million pixels
  • 6 frames per sec
  • 10 body colors and 12 grip colors will be available
  • 74,800 yen ($875 - but it could be $750 in the US)
  • Released in mid-October

Both DSLR cameras are expected to be released for Photokina. A new EVIL camera from Pentax is also expected to be announced (or at least shown) at Photokina.

    Pentax DSLR with a Sony sensor? Did Pentax and Samsung get a divorce?

      They already did while ago. Pentax K-x uses Sony sensor – and it end up very well of them. Currently K-x has highest DxO Mark of all Pentax DSLRs!

      Sony already make sensors that big and Pentax have the mount, register distance and lenses to support the larger sensor…. Its crazy not to make such a camera.

      (personally I would have prefered Kodak sensors, but you cant have everything)
