Why would they go with microFourThirds lens when the sensor size is not FourThirds sized?

This camera requires something like a Super 16 film size lens. Obviously the old 16mm PL mounts are not fit for this size, not even the C-mounts look to big on a camera this size, a proprietary mount is the only way. I’m sure it has an insanely short FFD.

That’s my point, who wants a shitty compact camera that can change lenses.. they should have a mft size sensor… FAIL

Tiny Winy. Size is not important.

Why such a small sensor? Samsung at least had it somewhat right by using an APS-C (DX) sized sensor. This is fairly sad–and there’s even a bokeh “filter” built into the camera software. Strange. Well, to each his own. I’ll stick with my bigger sensors and stop trying to cheat the laws of physics.

I want to see how the inbuilt bokeh filter works? depth mapping? I imagine it to be a cheesy feature with shit results though so I cant imagine any real innovation here :L

The pricing is just so insane. So you buy this and the zoom for $1,100. Think about what kind of camera you can get for that kind of money. This is just silly.

With a 4/3 size sensor or something similar even if it was slightly smaller this would have interested me, given the brand, the great primes the companie releases, the size, looks, etc. With the current sensor and prime Id rather buy a M43 which is barely bigger, or a good point and shoot for half the price or less.

that`s more expensive than k-r, pentax is insulting me.

i have a feeling that pentax found a niche that no one else tapped before.

…because i can’t imagine a scenario where someone would need such a camera.

i mean, 2/3″ sensor? $800? come *on*. no professional photographer would ever touch something like this, and for those who don’t care about bokeh and suchlike, a compact soapbox with a decent zoom and bright lens is more than enough… for half the price.

so, fantastic development for no one. too bad. pentax should stick to dslrs and medium format.

$800?! A nikon Fhave fallen on the head Pentax’ directors.

PENTAX: -Take a canon S95 just add some bulkier sike and double the price. Ta-daa!! our now camera is alive.

Including the slow zoom lens, this is twice the price of a XZ-1 or a E-PL2. Unbelievable. They must have taken a page out of Sigma’s marketing books.

During the presentation of this epic fail, the most used word is “kawai”, which means “cute”. As if the retro style could compensate for the bad iq, high price

If the IQ is good then it will have a market for those that can afford it

Sorry, Bernard, I can afford it, but why should I buy it? There are already better systems out there, if marginally bigger, and soon new systems will join, including a Pentax apsc one. As good as the images are for a sensor of this size, they compare to cameras that are smaller and far cheaper. Can they seriously be compared with the upcoming Sony Nex 7, that will cost something but not much more? Remember that, pricewise, the camera is in the same league of the best of m43 and apsc mirrorless.

Well, let’s hope for Pentax that Japanese housewives have a lot of money to waste this year…
