I’m betting on a $1200 price point. I think $1000 would be more appropriate, but Sigma seems like they’ve had a pricing paradigm shift as of late. New lenses have a better track record though so it makes sense.

No weight, no image samples and no MTF curves so it could be a dog and it could still be a lot longer before this lens appears in shops too.

How reliable is the source ?

I got the same reply when I asked Sigma customer service when this lens will be available: “This lens will ship in October.”

It’s funny they are proclaiming how compact it supposedly is at 7.8 inches, which is 2.5 inches longer than the old version and it’s in almost same body as their 70-200 minus the tripod ring. The marketing department hasn’t caught up to the reuse our larger lens bodies beancounter department.

Well, in many sites has been said that this numbers were fake, in fact they are the “same” of the 70-200 OS, and the real measures would be posted when the lens will be avaible.
But I’m confused…I’m expecting this lens from the past year, when the 50-150 NOT-OS was discontinued. Then in february this new lens was announced. But until now, no spec has been released, and they will start shipping this lens next month. How can I buy it if I don’t know the cost, the weight, the real lenght and so on?
      Sigma, WAKE UP!

i really like this focal length on APSC, once i pair up the 70-200 on a FF, the same lens just seems not appropriate on APSC.

Sigma should pair this with the 17-50 F2.8 and sell it as a kit.

I wonder if paired with a 2x convertor (or even a 1.4) this would be a full frame compatible lens. Any thoughts?
