Pentax K-5 II and K-5 IIs DSLR cameras

Two more leaks: the Pentax K-5 II and Pentax K-5 IIs DSLR cameras will replace the current K-5 model and are expected to hit stores in mid-October. The K-5 II Japanese price is expected to be ¥110,000 (around $1,400) the K-5 IIs will cost around ¥120,000 (around $1,500).

I’ll prefer the D600 FF for the same money :)

I’m not sure, a good APS-C camera with good burst rate, autofocus points and so on can be better than a lesser full-frame camera.

      • Alex

Ofcourse K5 is the best aps-c camera, but if I want to buy FF lens for the future – the choise is obvious.

  • FMJ

so whats the difference? compare to the original K5? what is the S version for? no AA filter?

so the rumor K-3 will be FF?

    • jake

right , the S has no AA and that’s the only one minor difference between non-s and S.

  • FMJ

whats the difference between these two II model from the original K5?
what is the S version for? no AA filter perhaps?

so the K3 is reserve for FF?

Alex, the D600 wont be weather proof for sure.

      The rumored differences are:
      all new 16mp sensor
      new image processor
      articulated screen
new safox X af system with 21 af point
      improved focus tracking
      improved zone focusing
      8 fps
improved video functions (manual controls and af during video)
no low pass filter (for the s version)

The pictures above do not show any difference from K5, except the label. How can the LCD screen be articulated, as long as there is no articulation on the rear?
        This looks like a fake.

About the same price as the current d300s or 7d. Similar performance and build quality, but better IQ and features. Baring any replacements for these cameras it will be the best APS-C camera you can buy. However I don’t see how much more they could ask for another APS-C camera above this? I would have thought this camera(s) would have been about $200 less. Time will tell.

    • Michael

Similar build quality to 7D (and D7000), but not D300. D300 has better build quality than the others.

  • Someone who knows

I’ve handled the actual successors last week (pre-production model).
    These pictures are fakes.

Yes, these are obviously PSed from DPR’s K-5 images!

Btw, the K-5N has a flipped mon, right, Mr. Someone who knows? ;-)

      • Someone who knows

Isn’t waiting for official press releases fun? :-P

        • jake

no, you should know APS-C based DSLRs are already dead , and Pentax should not waste its very limited resources on that crap.

          • Someone who knows

Yeah, right, they’re so dead, they’re driving >80% of the profits for camera manufacturers and outrank all of the FF-market combined.
Anyone who wants long reach certainly is better off with medium format, my friend, because there, a 600/4 is a medium telephoto lens.

Pentax FF will be available very soon, and I can’t wait for you idiots to find an excuse not to buy it.

    • Go on…

Any other info you can share with us? =D

  • Matthieu

So, we’ll have one with, the other without, an AA filter? It would make sense, considering the D800 and Ricoh’s own AA filterless M-mount module for the GXR.

  • aurèle

Like the Q10 i bet this is a fake :)

    • jake

it is not , it is for real, I mean I know that original site posted it is very reliable source.

Why do you think the Q10 is a fake?

These names II, IIs don’t seem very Pentax-like, so I won’t be at all surprised if this turns out to be fake. Pentax has more of a history of “Super” or an “n” suffix (e.g. ME Super, P3n, SF1n, K100D Super, etc.). Sort of like Nikon’s D70s and D300s. Pentax also used ‘p’, e.g. PZ1p, though I believe this was indicating the (then new and shiny) panorama format feature.

On the other hand Pentax, had a 645n which wasn’t all that much like the ur-645 and later followed up with a mostly-similar 645nII.

      • Cynog

There was a 67 II as well, if I remember correctly
