Fujifilm X-E1 wins Photokina STAR 2012 award

Fujifilm Corporation is proud to announce the second X series interchangeable lens camera FUJIFILM X-E1 has won the “Photokina STAR 2012” award sponsored by Photo Presse and “digit!” magazines traditionally awarded at Photokina. The Photokina STAR award honors products and concepts that stand out for their innovative nature and their trendsetting technologies.

Following hot on the heels of the highly acclaimed FUJIFILM X-Pro1, the X-E1 boasts the same 16 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS Sensor with top-class OLED electronic viewfinder, a smaller body with built-in flash and the same X mount for the FUJINON XF lens series.

With its convenient portable size and fast autofocus speed with the kit zoom lens XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS, the X-E1 promises to be an exciting addition to the X series range. Due to hit the market in autumn this year, and available in two variations Silver and Black, the attractive classical design of the X-E1 interchangeable lens camera will have wide appeal.

You’ve got to be kidding, a repackaged Xpro1 without the OVF compared to the Sony RX1 – a FF compact – something that’s never been done before. They should have just given it to the Hassleblad Lunar Nex 7.

      -10

as a complete camera the RX1 is no where near the xe1; even though it’s a budget camera, which says a lot about how good this camera will be, great value, great features. Just add an external OVF if needed.

Good, great, nice, now where is the FF body?

For 3000$ as the RX1 goes for? – Without any Kind of EVF/OVF?
Whats the Innovation here? the Sensor alone just because of its small package.

Bravo Fuji! Your Lens-Agenda looks astonishing, Price, Design and Quality are great!

The Sony rx-1 is an innovative camera, but Sony royally screwed the pooch by not incl. an EVF. Can believe they incl. that useless pop up flash and not an EVF. What were they thinking!!

Glad the award went to fuji’s ex1. It may not be newest innovation, but it’s a fantastic value, and offers a hell of a lot for the money.

I’m sorry but by the mentioned criteria Fuji does not come to my mind, what’s the big innovation or trend setting technology here? There is nothing in the X-E1 that has not been on the market before, yes its a great camera, but thats not been the criteria.
To me even though overpriced and by far not for everyone there is just one cam that stands out with those criteria this year. The Rx-1, simply because its bound to be the starter of FF mirrorless cameras for a broader audience..Leica really is and will stay a niche product.
