Those are the first leaked images of the upcoming Hasselblad Stellar compact camera. Similar to the Lunar, the Stellar will be based on the Sony RX100 model. The major difference compared to the RX100 seems to be the Italian wood handgrip and camera housing material. The official announcement will be on July 26th. The price is expected to be between $1,600-$3,200 depending on the selected materials. At least six different grips, mainly made out of exotic wood, will be available:

I hear that Hasselblad has hired Ashton Kutcher away from Nikon. His new roll is to pop out from behind the cash register after one of these cameras has been sold and yell out “YOU’VE BEEN PUNKED!!!”

    I love balls.

wait. are those phillips head screws holding the grip on? really? you can actually see the screws?

    that’s some hell-ass build quality.

so, they are pretty much charging $1000 to $2500 for a piece of wood screwed on to an RX100.

I thought the Lunar was a huge mistake, but at this point, I’m pretty much sure that they are trying to destroy this brand for some unspecified reason.

After the outcry, jeers, and relentless attacks on the Lunar, I was sure they would have learned their lesson…. but alas, this camera is nearly worse(it couldn’t possibly be uglier than the Lunar, but this camera is barely different from the original RX100 besides the color and a piece of wood.)
There must be something going on with this company behind the scenes that we don’t know about. After getting destroyed online when the Lunar came out, I cannot believe they are stupid enough to release this as a viable product.
    This company wants to fail.

If Hasselblad keeps releasing rebadged Sony cameras like these the company will soon die

Honestly why is there a need for an RX100 variant like this? And who will use one??

Can someone please photoshop an “a!” next to the “H” logo..

I see this and somehow I can’t forget that (at least in the US) there is a popular medication that displays a very large letter “H” right after the word “Preparation” Anybody want to guess what the big “H” stands for?

As the rich are getting richer and the middle class is getting poorer, there is no surprise that the middle class photographers here don’t “get it”. I was shopping with my wife at the Tom Ford shop in NYC last Christmas and saw a woman purchase a pair of stilettos (not even leather!) for $8000. Those are the type of people Hasselblad is targeting. Believe it or not, there is now a HUGE market for luxury items… remember the recession? Rolls Royce and Bentley couldn’t keep up with demand!
