The 8 million dollar travel tripod

The guys from Peak Design sent out an email about their "8 Million Dollar Travel Tripod" - the travel tripod that raised over 8 million dollars on Kickstarter with 8 more days to go:

Hi xxxxx,

Have you ever been frustrated with your travel tripod?

Have you felt like it is too bulky, too heavy and maybe even a bit too flimsy all at the same time? Have you ever been setting it up and accidentally hit something or even someone nearby - as you worked to flip the legs out in an awkward 180° rotation? Have you ever wondered why there was so much wasted space between the legs?

Don't worry. You are not alone! Myself and more than 18,000 other passionate photographers have felt the same way - but today I have some great news!

Over that last 4+ years our friend at Peak Design (whom you may know from their amazing and award winning travel bags and backpacks) have been hard at work not just building another travel tripod, but instead re-thinking, re-designing and ultimately re-defining the travel tripod as we have known it! From an all new ball head design all the way down to optional metal spikes they have meticulously and thoughtfully questioned and then re-designed everything you thought you knew a travel tripod had to be, feel, look and work like.

I can't wait to get mine out on the road!

Check it out here.

Mine (other than weight, size and shape) is that this one will finally fit inside my gear bag instead of hanging out awkwardly on the outside - held on haphazardly via straps and ready to fall out or get snatched at any moment.

Talk to you soon.

Griffin

P.S. Of course the tripod is not 8 million dollars. That is just how much it has raised on Kickstarter so far from more than 18,000 backers 🙂
