Four new Samsung cameras do be announced soon, including the “Panasonic LX3 killer”

There were several reports that Samsung is about to announce a new compact camera with a fast f/1.8 lens and an 1/1.8″ image sensor (see all previous Samsung rumors here). This camera was labeled as the "Panasonic LX3 killer".

I think the camera in question is the fist model in the picture below (click on image to enlarge). The second model looks like a video cam, similar to the Kodak PlaySport. I don't have detailed specs or models names, but according to the previous rumors from dpreview the "LX3 killer" should have:

  • New 1/1.8″ CMOS sensor
  • 24mm, 3x optical zoom. f/1.8 lens
  • Swivel rear screen

Expect an official announcement during PMA in the next few days.

Update - a reader just added this comment:

The second camera from the right is the WB2000:

  • CMOS Backlit 10MPx (1/2.4″), probably the Sony Exmor R
  • 24-120mm f/2.8-5.6
  • HD 1080p/30fps
  • Sweet Panorama
  • 10fps
  • 3″ AMOLED display

Obviously you have never OWNED a Samsung product. The only thing they can kill is a desire to own another Samsung product.

True, I have never owned any Samsung cameras but this f/1.8 lens looks sweet on paper. Let’s wait for the real tests/reviews before we judge.

given that samsung is the only company that can produce a decent touch screen camera, and working at a camera store i assure you ive used them all, id say they have some ability to pull shit out of there asses when it comes to cameras.

Swivel screen is stupid though, just makes the camear back bulky and no longer pocket size, if it aint pocket size personally id may aswell bring my d90

I am not sure, but the lens of “LX3 Killer” would be a f/1.8-2.4 (24-73mm).
