Cinema5D Interviewed Sigma’s CEO Kazuto Yamaki about the new L-Mount Alliance:

Here is the recap from 43addict:

  • Sigma started working on Foveon Full Frame 3 years ago
  • Having a partnership would be better for the customers so they decided to work with Panasonic and Leica
  • Their current cameras are APS-C and APS-H
  • Can’t comment about the camera shooting video
  • The new full frame camera will be available next year
  • Panasonic approached Sigma about joining their mount
  • Sigma had a good relationship with Panasonic and Leica so they were comfortable working together
  • Sigma has no plans for Nikon/Canon 3rd party lenses yet and they haven’t even looked at them yet
  • Each company will develop their own lenses/cameras separately, but they are working together to make the L-mount system robust and compatible
  • Sigma announce 6 lenses at Photokina 2018
  • Thinks 40mm will be the new standard for high-end lenses
