In addition to the Panasonic Lumix S1H Cine camera, the French Magazinevideo leaked also some additional information on the upcoming Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25 mm f/1.7 MFT lens:
The arrival of a new optical micro 4/3 is always an event in itself. A fortiori when covering a wide angle range and / or it claims a constant aperture. This is the case of the new optical Leica 10-25mm equivalent to a focal length range of 20 to 50 mm (35 mm equivalent) and above all, offers a constant aperture of F1.7. This opening should be very interesting for videographers with a report that Panasonic calls "cinema" in all cases should encourage bokeh, and low light conditions.
The new optical Leica (Leica actually under license), composed of 17 elements in 12 groups including three aspherical lenses, 4 ED lenses, and lens 1 UHR, operates according Panasonic " as the assembly of several objectives primes , favoring dynamic landscapes as portraits " . The optical, which remains compact but not so light (690 grams), would reduce the chromatic aberration and the spherical distortion.
Compatible with a sensor up to 240 frames / sec maximum, it provides consistently fast auto focus. However it is not stabilized, which, however, is not a major concern if the sensor is stabilized on its side.
The drive system of setting the internal point of the new lens is also silent, thus promoting the video. This silence is obtained by a continuous aperture ring notchless and a stepping motor.
The Leica also benefit from a mechanism that suppresses the pumping focus, problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for photography only.
Optics is advertised as rugged and to tropical, ie more precisely can withstand splashes and dust. The filter diameter is 77mm.
