Digital camera shipments are still declining year over year - here are the latest stats from BCNR:

"As of 2014, the number was around 5,784,000 units, but it has been decreasing year by year. In 2022, it had fallen to around 929,000 units. The following year, in 2023, it was even lower than the previous year, at around 912,000 units."

"From 2014 to 2016, it fluctuated between 60% and 58.9% in 2017, falling below 60%. The penetration rate has continued to decline since then, falling below 50% in 2022 and to 41.5% in 2024. This is a decrease of more than 20 points over the past 10 years. Meanwhile, the smartphone penetration rate exceeded 60% in 2017, and exceeded 90% in 2024, rising 30 points in seven years."

"The rate is decreasing in all age groups, but it is particularly noticeable among younger generations. The penetration rate for those under 29 was 69.5% in 2014, but dropped by more than 50 points to 18.2% in 2012. Even among those in their 30s, it has dropped by just under 50 points in the past 10 years, which is a major factor in pushing down the overall penetration rate."
