The latest patents from Pentax, Ricoh, Olympus and Canon

→ Pentax/Ricoh filed a patent for on-sensor PDAF (phase detection focusing system) implemented using sensor shift via the shake reduction system.

→ Olympus patented a new “water splash” mode where the camera will be triggered by splashed water.

→ Pentax/Ricoh field a patent for a 80-160mm f/4.5 medium format lens for the Pentax 645 system (50-100mm equivalent).

→ Canon filed a patent for a 45x zoom lens (4.62-205mm f/4.0-9.0) designed for 1/2.3″ sized sensor.

→ Another Canon patent shows a 180mm f/3.5 Macro DO lens.

More leaked pictures of the upcoming Pentax Q-S1 mirrorless camera

A quick update to my post from yesterday – the name of the upcoming Pentax mirrorless camera will be Q-S1 (and not Q2 as previously reported). Attached are few more leaked images courtesy of digicame-info.

Reminder: the Pentax Q10 camera with 27.5-83mm lens is on sale for $169 for the next few hours (regular $399).

Update: the Pentax Q-S1 will have 1/1.7″ sensor and will be available in many different color combinations:

The above picture is the new Pentax DA 645 28-45mm f/4.5 ED AL SDM AW SR wide-angle medium format zoom lens that was listed on the roadmap for 2014 (via digicame-info). For pricing and availability of all Pentax 645 lenses, see this link.
Pentax/Ricoh is going to release new tethering software for the 645z in September during the 2014 Photokina show (via DC.Watch).
