Olympus patents hot shoe mounted miniature camera for capturing stereo/3D images

Olympus filed patent 2011-250022 in Japan for a hot shoe mounted miniature camera that will be used to capture stereo/3D images. It seems that Olympus has chosen a different 3D solution than Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds 12.5mm f/12 3D lens.

Rumors of a full frame Pentax DSLR and a new APS-C mirrorless camera suface again

According to this dpreview forum member, Pentax will release a full frame DSLR and a new APS-C mirrorless cameras in 2012. The full-frame DSLR model is expected to use a 24MP sensor from Sony.

Zeiss cinema lenses roadmap for 2012

Tamron announces 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC lens for Sony NEX system

Today Tamron announced their first lens for mirrorless cameras – the 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III VC for Sony NEX system. You can download the PDF brochure here. The new lens will be available for sale in Japan on December 15th. Pricing was not announced at that point.

Tamron is also working on the following lenses for APS-C mirrorless camera:

  • Compact standard zoom: 24-50mm f/3.5-5.6 VR
  • Compact telezoom: 75-200mm f/4.5-6.3 VR
