Sony Japan: the RX1R III could be delayed because of high demand, while the camera is sitting in stock at Amazon


Sony Japan issued a statement about the latest Sony RX1R III camera, indicating that becuase of the high demand, deliveries could be delayed:

"We began accepting orders for the RX1R III (DSC-RX1RM3) full-frame compact camera with integrated lens and related accessories on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. We have received many more orders than we expected, so it may take some time for your products to be delivered."

Expect more price increases on photo gear: the new US tariff on imports from Japan is now 15%


After the initial suggestion for a 25% tariff, the Trump administration reached a new deal today that includes a 15% tariff on all products coming from Japan. The effective US tariff rate on Japanese imports before the announcement was approximately 2%, according to World Bank data. Please note that tariffs are not calculated based on the final selling price in the US, but rather on the import invoice/declared value price. Beware of scam: fake Hasselblad websites offer significant discounts on gear


It seems that Leica is not the only company recently targeted in elaborate online scams that involved multiple fake websites and significant social media advertising campaigns (all on Meta's apps like Facebook and Instagram - both known for being a preferred social platform for scammers worldwide). I recently noticed the first fake Hasselblad website online - I will not link to the actual domain name, but you can see the URL in the screenshots below – I am sure there are more similar sites out there (click for larger view):
