Kodak Q3 financial results


Kodak released their third quarter financial results:

  • GAAP net earnings of $19 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2018.
  • Operational EBITDA for the quarter of $20 million, an increase of $7 million compared with the third quarter of 2017.
  • Revenues for the quarter of $366 million, compared with $379 million in the prior-year quarter.
  • Key product lines achieved strong year-over-year growth for the quarter:
    • Volume for KODAK SONORA Process-Free Plates grew by 17 percent.
    • Volume for KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates grew by 17 percent.
    • Annuity revenues for the KODAK PROSPER inkjet platform grew by 8 percent.
  • The company ended the quarter with a cash balance of $238 million and expects to generate cash in the fourth quarter 2018.
  • 2018 revenue guidance revised to $1.475 billion to $1.525 billion; Operational EBITDA guidance remains at $55 million to $60 million.
  • Additional development: Kodak is in advanced negotiations on an exclusive basis to sell its Flexographic Packaging Division. The net proceeds from the transaction will be used to reduce the Company’s outstanding term debt.

Let's begin by debunking a few myths.

Tropical paradises aren't always paradises, and shooting there isn't always rewarding. There are mosquitos, dangerous parasites, extreme weather and environmental conditions, and a lot of scarcely-documented adverse situations that can harm you, or even worse, can damage your beloved equipment.

But!

But, in my opinion at least, it’s much better than shooting boring old ceremonies or risky riot situations.

So here I present to you some of my notes of the experiences I’ve gathered in my many adventures in and around some fantastic tropical seas such as the Caribbean, Maldivian, African, or even in some European paradises. Clearly they’re all based on what I’ve come across, along with my goals, which are basically to bring home at least one or two decent – and high quality – shots from every place I visit.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lens UK and Japan pricing announced


The price of the new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lens will be 190,000 yen (excluding tax) in Japan, £1349.99 (including VAT) in the UK (or around $1,700) and €1,599 in Europe:


The US pricing is not yet released. For comparison, the latest Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 version is priced at $2,796.95.

The release date for the Sigma and Canon mounts is December 14th. The launch date for the Nikon version is not yet determined (expected in early 2019).

Leaked pictures of the upcoming Leica D-Lux 7 camera


The already rumored Leica D-Lux 7 camera will be announced next week (November 20th) with a price tag of $1,200. The identical Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II camera is priced at $997. while the previous D-Lux model was $1,100 ($935 now). The technical specifications of the new D-Lux 7 will be identical to the Panasonic LX100 II - see this comparison with the previous model.
