Meyer Optik Görlitz website relaunched under new ownership, admits that previous products were converted Russian and/or Chinese lenses

Today Meyer Optik Görlitz relaunched their website. In the press release, the new owners admitted that some of the lenses sold under the Meyer Optic Görlitz brand (Somnium and Nocturnus) were actually converted Russian and/or Chinese lenses and not “Made in Germany” as advertised:
“In the course of the analysis of the last available portfolio announced by the previous provider, it was decided to discontinue the model series Somnium and Nocturnus for the time being. As already discussed in the past in various online media, forums, etc., the current Meyer Optik employees realized very quickly that inside the Somnium it was a converted, Russian lens and the Nocturnus was a converted, Chinese lens has acted.”

Last year Meyer Optic Görlitz filed for bankruptcy and the brand was sold – see all previous coverage here.
