Update (via L-Forum) - several readers noticed that Panasonic is fudging the LUMIX S lens MTF charts by using non-uniform X axis. To an uninformed reader, the LUMIX S MTF charts may look flatter when comparing to MTF charts from others who use standard linear axis.   • Super Telephoto Lens (Coming in 2020)

The L-mount will have over 42 lenses in total by the end of 2020:

  • More than 10 Panasonic Lumix lenses by the of 2020

Panasonic has a patent for 18mm f/4 APS-C mirrorless lens (L-mount?)


Panasonic has filed a new patent P2019-15827A for an 18mm f/4 mirrorless lens designed for APS-C based cameras. Could it be that Panasonic is working on a new mirrorless camera with L-mount?

Leica already has two APS-C L-mount mirrorless cameras (Leica TL2 and Leica CL) and a few lenses.

In an interview with Dpreview a few months ago Sigma confirmed their plans to develop APS-C lenses for L-mount, while Panasonic said that they will not make APS-C lenses for L-mount:

Canon to accelerate development of new mirrorless products (2018 financial results are out)


Canon's 2018 financial results are out:

  • Canon expects its annual operating profit to drop for the first time in three years
  • Canon forecasts an operating profit of 325 billion yen ($2.97 billion) for 2019, down 5.2 percent from 342.95 billion yen a year earlier - the first decline since 2016
  • Tough competition in mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras and a stronger yen are also expected to hurt Canon’s earnings.
  • Canon shares have lost about 30 percent over the past year as the company slashed its annual profit forecast twice (Reuters)
