November CIPA report: system camera shipments down again compared to last year

Coming soon: Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF lens for Canon mount (yes, autofocus)

Last year I reported about a new Samyang lens that is going to be announced on January 14th. Some more details leaked online – the new lens will be Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF for Canon mount (pictured above). Yes, this will be an autofocus full frame lens for Canon DSLRs cameras. No indication if the lens will be available also for Nikon F-mount cameras.

Samyang announcing an autofocus lens for Canon should not be a surprise to PhotoRumors readers – see this and this posts.

I find it interesting that the new Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens is coming shortly after the Yongnuo 14mm f/2.8 was announced.

The new Yongnuo YN 14mm f/2.8 ultra-wide lens is priced around $500-$600

When I first broke the news about the new Yongnuo YN 14mm f/2.8 ultra-wide lens, the pricing was not yet available. The lens is now listed for sale on eBay for $512 and $650 but I expect this price to drop once Amazon and B&H start selling it.

Update: the Yongnuo YN 14mm f/2.8 lens is now in stock at Amazon.

The Nikon version of the 14mm lens is not yet available (the Nikon version of the Yongnuo YN 85mm f/1.8 lens is also not yet available). The good news for Nikon shooters is that the latest Yongnuo YN 40mm f/2.8N pancake lens for Nikon F-mount is now in stock for $87.98.

Is there a new Sony a6700 APS-C mirrorless camera coming in 2018?

The last Sony a6500 model was announced back in October 2016 and the Sony a6300 was announced in February 2016. The model before that (Sony a5100) was announced in August 2014 (the Sony a6000 was introduced in February 2014). If Sony keeps that release pattern, a new APS-C mirrorless camera (or two) is expected to be announced in 2018.
