One day after the Skylum Luminar 2018 became available for pre-order, Serif released version 1.6 of their Affinity Photo software (a Photoshop alternative):

In a recent interview with Fujifilm at the PhotoPlus Expo, Cameta Camera asked about the availability of the new Fujinon GF 250mm f/4 R LM OIS WR, XF 200mm f/2 R LM OIS WR and XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR lenses which are expected to be launched in spring and summer of 2018. Surprising, nobody covered the new lenses that were on display at the PhotoPlus Expo, but FujiAddict spotted them in the video and took some screenshots:

GoPro is rumored to announce a new entry-level camera (with a new form factor) next year that will replace the current Hero Session model:

A new Fuji camera has been registered with the Bluetooth certification authority under the code name FF170003. This could be for the rumored Fujifilm XT2S or X80 cameras.

I received this picture from a reader of what appears to be the rumored Panasonic Lumix G9 MFT camera:

While this picture comes from a new source, I did some comparisons with the current G85 version (pictured below) and you can clearly see how Panasonic moved one of the top dials in order to make space for the new top LCD screen I already reported about last week:

I also have an updated list of Panasonic Lumix G9 specifications (initially reported here):

Luminar 2018 for Mac & PC is now available for pre-order. The new version includes new filters powered by artificial intelligence, speed improvements, a dedicated RAW develop module, new intelligent Sun Rays filter, LUT support, and real-time noise removal and a forthcoming in 2018: a digital asset management platform.
Luminar 2018 has been re-built from the ground up for faster performance. Existing filters deliver richer colors and depth in less time. A new streamlined user interface speeds up working with presets, filters, and masks. With full support of pro options like layers, masks, and blending modes, complex repairs and photo composites can be easily accomplished.

When Adobe released the latest Lightroom 6.13 last week, they indicated that there will be one more final standalone release that will be out by the end of the year.
At that point, it is probably a good idea to download a copy of the latest Lightroom standalone version from this page and keep it for your records as a backup because I am pretty sure that Adobe will remove the download from their website at some point. They have already been trying to “hide” the download link for a while now. The latest Lightroom Classic CC 7.0.1 also just automatically removes your local LR installation – see this page for more info on how to bring it back.
The current Adobe CC plan rates can be found here. You can get a free Lightroom CC trial on this page (no credit card required.).
If you haven’t realized it yet, the future belongs to the Cloud:
