The Russian company Zenit to release a new full-frame mirrorless digital camera in 2018

Last year I already reported that the Russian camera brand Zenit is coming back to life. The company is coming with some new lenses (for example Zenitar 50mm f/0.95) and “a luxury camera” similar to Leica.

Today the Russian information agency RNS reported that in 2018 Zenit will release a new full-frame mirrorless digital camera.

The director of the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant where the new camera will be produced said this to a Russian radio station:

The Canon EOS M10 mirrorless camera replacement will be called M100

The current Canon EOS M10 camera

In the next few days Canon will replace their current EOS M10 with a new “entry-level” mirrorless camera that will be called M100. The EOS M100 will be available in black and white and will have 9 different colored jackets (EH31-FJ). The M100 kit will come with an EF-M 15-45mm lens. New Canon EOS-M (M20?) mirrorless camera coming soon

In addition to the four new lenses, Canon is also expected to announce a new EOS mirrorless camera to replace the current EOS M10 (Canon EOS M20?). The camera has already been registered with various government agencies.

Today Nokishita reported about a new jacket model EH31-FJ for the upcoming mirrorless camera which means we are getting close to the official announcement.

Just reminder that the latest EOS M6 mirrorless camera was a success for Canon according to their latest financial results.

Oprema Jena Biotar 75/1.5 lens launched on Kickstarter

The Oprema Jena Biotar 75/1.5 lens is now officially announced and is listed for funding on Kickstarter. The lens will be available in Canon, Nikon, Sony-E, Leica-M (rangefinder coupling supported), FujiX and M42 mounts.

Update – the project has been delayed:

The first components did arrive. Unfortunately, we found that some components did not meet our quality requirements especially in regard to the tight specifications for lenses and some high precision mechanical components. These have to be reworked in the coming weeks. It is hard to say to what extent this will influence delivery times but it will certainly lead to a delay in comparison to the promised date. As soon as we can estimate better we will let you know. Probably we have a new timetable until the end of this month which we will share.
