Canon PowerShot V1 compact camera officially announced




The previously rumored Canon PowerShot V1 compact camera is now officially announced. It seems that for now, the information about the new release is available only in Japan (Canon USA is not updated yet):

An updated list of upcoming/rumored cameras and lenses to be announced next week for the 2025 CP+ show in Japan


What to expect at the 2025 CP+ show – an updated list of upcoming/rumored cameras and lenses (see also the list of CP+ exhibitors):


New Sony lenses (Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8.0 G lens already leaked).

New Sigma lenses on February 25th (up to 3 new lenses are expected). A new Sigma camera with Foveon X3 1:1:1 sensor is also a possibility. See the Sigma scheduled at CP+ here.

Panasonic Lumix S1R II camera (more than one new camera is possible). See the dedicated CP+ page here. The announcement date is February 25th.

   
Fujifilm GFX 100RF camera: coming in March after the CP+ show.

New Zeiss Otus ML mirrorless lens: February 25th at 8:00 am ET

Thypoch to release a new Simera 75mm f/1.4 lens and a 21mm f/1.4 lens (the 21mm will come later this year).


7Artisans is expected to announce a new 85mm f/1.8 AF lens for L-mount.

Two new Meike lenses: Meike AF 85mm f/1.8 Pro for Fuji X & Meike AF 35mm f/1.8 Pro.

The first two Zeiss Otus ML mirrorless lenses for Z/E/RF mount leaked online



The rumors were true – Zeiss will announce mirrorless versions of their Otus lenses for Nikon Z, Sony E, and Canon RF mount. The first two lenses have already leaked online:

  • Zeiss Otus ML 50mm f/1.4 for Z/E/RF mount (£2,100)
  • Zeiss Otus ML 85mm f/1.4 for Z/E/RF mount (£2,350)


Zeiss originally had four Otus lenses:

I seriously doubt Zeiss will introduce any new version besides the four listed above. As I already wrote in my previous blog post, Zeiss is looking for a quick and easy revenue stream without spending money on research and development – just like OM System: re-house, promote with influencers, and sell at ridiculous prices.
