
The Pentax K-r body only is listed as discontinued at B&H. Back in September there were some rumors about a new Pentax DSLR, but later a Pentax rep confirmed that there will be no new cameras announced in 2011. Via Pentaxforums
Sony Japan confirmed to DCWatch the discontinuation of the a900 model camera for Japan. This is not really something new since the a900 was listed as discontinued on Sony’s Hong Kong website back in May of 2010. For the US, Amazon currently shows only 20 cameras left in stock.
Sony will officially discontinue the full frame a850 camera this summer, two years after its official announcement. Back in May B&H already listed the camera as discontinued. Sony a33 camera is listed as discontinued on Sony’s website in Japan. The camera was announced back in August 2010. It seems that the latest Sony cameras have a life cycle of less than 12 months. The Sony NEX 3 mirrorless camera was also listed as discontinued back in February, 2011 (announced in May, 2010).
Pentax K-x and K-7 are now listed as discontinued on pentax.jp. Both models were replaced by the Penatx K-r and K-5 in September 2010. The now discontinued K-x and K-7 were announced in September 2009. It will be interesting to see if Pentax will keep this 12 months refresh cycle.
