Similar to last year, Ricoh will announce a new CX5 compact camera in February. The only change from the current CX4 model is that the Ricoh CX5 will have a HDMI slot, which means that the basic specs should remain the same:
- 920,000-dot, 3.0 in. LCD
- 10.7x optical zoom (28-300mm)
- 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor
- f/3.5-5.6 aperture
- 5fps

I find that odd…the obvious way would be using the new 16mp sony sensor? are you sure about this information?thanks….
yes, I am sure, but it is still a rumor
Maybe in a CX6 in Spring…
One thing about Ricoh cameras is that they’re beautifully made, the buttons and dials have a nice feeling and they look cool, unlike the Canons or Nikons which often look like kids toys.
But maybe I’m a little biased since I’ve have a GX 200 ?
The GX and GRD series are premium lines with top-notch build quality, while the CXs are not.
With this kind of “amazing” innovation, it’s a surprise that Ricoh is still even in business.
“0.7x optical zoom” had me confused for a minute, until I saw the “28-300mm”
I presume that’s meant to be 10.7!
missed the 1 – it is suppose to be 10.7
The Ricoh CX5 is coming and will have an intelligent 600 mm zoom, golf mode togther with all the awsome quality from its CMOS Senser. Can’t wait
