Pentax Ricoh products shuffle

Noboru Akabane, President of Pentax Imaging Ricoh, announced plans to abolish future Pentax compact digital cameras and focus on DSLRs. All future compact cameras will be under the Ricoh brand while DSLR and mirrorless camera will be under the Pentax name. It is not clear what will happen with the Ricoh GXR system. Via Digicame-info

The latest Fujifilm updates

Fujfilm released a new brochure with X-Pro 1 accessories that includes the two upcoming XF lenses. There is also a new firmware update v.1.11 for the X-Pro1 mirrorless camera.

Canon expected to announce their mirrorless camera on July 23th

Canon’s patent adds image stabilization to the 24-70mm f/2.8L lens

Canon’s patent 2012123156 adds image stabilization to the 24-70mm f/2.8L lens. Canon has filed 24-70mm f/2.8 lens patents in the past, but this is the first time they added IS to the lens design. Canon recently announced the EF 24-70 f/2.8L II lens, so another update is not likely to come out soon.

Canon phase detection AF found in the Rebel T4i camera

Chipworks recently took apart a Canon Rebel T4i camera and found phase detection sensors mixed among the pixels. This technology is used in the Fuji F300EXR and Nikon 1 cameras and it will probably be present in the upcoming Canon mirrorless camera.
