  • Excellent. That Q 5-15/2.8 is exactly what I hoped Pentax would add to their Q system. Count me as a likely early adopter.

The DA 18-270/3.5-6.3 looks 99% likely to be a Tamron rebadge, not necessarily a bad thing. The main disappointment is that it’s a lost opportunity to give it a Pentax DA 18-135 style WR build. I’m not a likely customer for this lens but hopefully the USD price will be less than that $800, especially since it’s likely to have the optical stabilization stripped out vs. the Tamron VC version for other mounts.

looking at Pentax Q 15-45mm f/2.8, I’m curious whether this is the 35mm equivalent for 70-200mm f2.8. If so, then the new Q will have bigger sensor than the current one.

The 15-45mm telephoto for the Q will be approximately 80-250mm equivalent.

  • Looking at the FA645 90/2.8 Macro, there seems to be some strange feature indicators in the name:

HD: I am skeptical — I think the real name prefix is probably D-FA 645.
AW: I guess this might stand for All-Weather, don’t know why they don’t use “WR” like on their K-mount lenses. “AW” appears in the name for their 25/4 and 55/2.8.
SR: Do they have in-lens SR (shake-reduction) for this lens? I suspect this will turn out to actually be “SDM” (like on 25/4, 55/2.8, and a number of K-mount lenses).

Hi, the HD comes from a new revolutionary coating that Pentax will launch on this lens and the 560 supertele.
AW is the top level of weather proofing for Pentax lenses and the order is: WR -> * lenses -> AW. AW practically means any king of rain but submerged in water
      SR – optical stabilization

  • As before, those pics are completely fake!

  • Good to see lens #06 finally getting released. Been much debate on Asahi Camera forums for quite some time hoping #06 would come out, and is another zoom lens. I do not have Q-system, but always liked how camera girls have gone crazy using Pentax’s little system.
