Improved AF is good. I was hoping for focus peaking in MF, too.

Fuji said peaking was also dependent on the Phase Detect sensor (which I don’t buy) so I guess they are drawing a line in the sand and we will have to upgrade to new hardware in the future to get peaking and split focus.

When Sony started selling the NEX 5n with focus peaking they updated the NEX 5 firmware to allow it to use the new model’s manual focusing facility, and this camera doesn’t have phase AF.
I’d expect Fujifilm to extend focus peaking to X100, X-Pro1 and X-E1 also.

no more further updates to X100 from what i’ve heard. also MF on X100 is useless, focus peaking won’t fix the need for 100 turns 🙂

Are you sure you did update the firmware?

      • Ke

They said the split screen focusing used phase detection, where or when did they say peaking was too?

    • Jeffrey S

I can understand not getting split focus with a firmware upgrade, but focus peaking would be very nice.

  • Robert

Fuji never said focus peaking was dependent on phase detect … and it’s not. They need to implement this on the XP-1 soon, if they hope to sell more of them this year. Sequel won’t arrive till next year.

I’m still not impressed with the autofocus on the 60mm. This was with the new firmware.

  • Pavel

Still not to make manual mode useable with histogram…

I’ve not been able to find this mysterious update. All the link does is take you to the last update, 2.0.1, or am I missing something?
