it does look fun ! sensor size anyone ?

    • deb_ch

1/2.3 inch (7.4 eq 41mm, 4:3 ratio). I don’t think it’s a serious camera for high-end photography but more for the nostalgic fans. I like the design, though.

    How do you focus?

    • Not sure – never had one of those cameras in my hands.

    • samuel

You wouldn’t need to, the dof would be huge with the sensor being so small and focal length wide.

Ummm…the focus ring on the lens?

    • deb_ch

From the 5.1 version manual: “The depth of field of the camera extends from 2 m to infinity, i.e. focusing is not required within this range. For close-focus shots you can infinitely adjust distances between 0.5 m and 2 m using the depth of field ring.”

  • Winning! (Love where they put the optical viewfinder in that pic. Whoops!)

It does look like a disfigured button rewind M2 with a rigid summicron.

  • Oh and I’m wondering if the winding lever or dial do anything? The manual for their 5.1MP version indicate that they are cosmetic…Which is too bad, they should at least move so you can play like you have a real camera. ;^)

The image quality on all their previous spy camera digital recreations has been dreadful. Make sure to look at example images before even considering this as a toy. I had a 2mp Sony u20 that was smaller and delivered better image quality than these.

Also the form factor allows for a flash. I had an ok flash on the smaller sony u20. You shouldn’t have to buy an external flash for this.

  • Even if the camera is a toy, it is interesting that the price of the camera plus the optical viewfinder is half of the Nikon viewfinder…

It is a pity it is not a 28 mm…
