I have high hopes for this lens 😀 It would be a great complement to a 35mm prime !

    Why no Sony version… Tokina… 🙂

Everyone’s run away to see the new Sigma 18-35 beauty, poor Tokina!

But Tokina lens is still a lot interesting. Next time try making a compact 12-36mm f/3.5 and it will be the only lens in my DSLR.

True, but these rumour site are all about the latest and greatest, and the Sigma holds that card at the moment, even though the Tokina focal length is more interesting to me at the moment

As hard as it is to get sharp images on ultra wide zooms from edge to edge on the new high mp DX camera bodies I wonder if extending the zoom range is going to degrade things even more.

    • Tokina’s 11-16 f/2.8 DX Pro is pretty sharp edge to edge. Sharper than the closest Nikon or Canon lenses and less expensive. This lens has a wider zoom range, but by reducing the aperture to f/4, I expect this to be a very good lens.

uhm, imho this lens updates the tokina AT-X 12-24/4 so yes- the FL was extended. 11-16/2.8 is a different construction imho.
