The first rumored Olympus E-M1 specifications


By the end of the year (most likely this summer) Olympus will announce the new E-M1 Micro Four Thirds camera. Here are some of the rumored specifications:

  • DSLR-like design, similar to the E-M5 but with a larger grip that will contain an additional control dial on top
  • Micro Four Thirds mount
  • 16MP sensor
  • 81 AF points
  • 3" tiltable LCD screen
  • Electronic viewfinder with 2,300,000 pixels
  • Max shutter: 1/8000
  • 10 fps
  • Built-in Wi-Fi

    81 AF points …. does this mean that it will have PDAF? Because with CDAF, any part of the sensor is a focus “point”.

      maybe 81 areas. pentax k-01 uses the same amount of focus area, if i’m not mistaken.

      • Could be – maybe something got lost in translation. I will try to get more info.

          • no, it has to do with the focusing, either 81 AF points or 81 AF areas

        Looks like a new flagship OM-D camera, so 81 AF points with PDAF is possible. And take consideration that they’re now working with Sony.

          PDAF: i meant that on-sensor AF that Sony used.

    Any info on a four-thirds successor for the E5? It’s what I currently shoot with and very happy, but hoping they also have a new four-thirds camera too.
